He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 31
The promotional video could still be opened through the newsletter link.
My lawyer didn’t send them a third notice.
She filed for an injunction directly with the court.
The evidence wasn’t a massive stack of documents.
It was only my revocation notice from a year ago, their proof of receipt, and the page and newsletter republished after that notice.
In their written response, my adoptive parents insisted the materials belonged to the foundation’s historical archives.
My lawyer read their statement aloud to me.
“They acknowledge they were aware of the notice, but argue that old materials are unaffected.”
“A year ago, you already told me what the law said.”

On the day of the hearing, I returned to Boston for the first time by choice.
Eli drove me to the courthouse but didn’t come inside.
“Text me when it’s over.”
“You’re not going to ask what happens?”
“That’s up to the judge.” He smoothed my scarf for me. “You just need to do what you came to do.”
The temporary injunction was granted that afternoon.
The court ordered the foundation to stop publicly using my image immediately and to remove all accessible fundraising materials.
It had started snowing by the time I stepped outside.
My lawyer handed me the electronic ruling.
“This time, they can’t mistake silence for consent anymore.”
I hit Forward.
The recipients weren’t the media.
They were every member of the Mercer Foundation board.
