He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 20

My sister was not happy in her marriage.

The news trickled back to me over the next half-month.

My mother sent people to her new home three times.

The first time, with recovery medicine. The second time, with jewelry. The third time, with money.

I didn’t ask why.

Not until Sebastian showed up at the Crawford residence again.

My father wasn’t home.

He waited for me for half an hour outside the main security gate.

I had no desire to see him, but he insisted it was important.

When I finally went out, he looked like he had lost a significant amount of weight.

“Adeline.”

Even now, that was the first word out of his mouth.

I frowned.

“Brother-in-law.”

His face tightened.

I asked, “What is it?”

After a long silence, he said abruptly, “Victoria isn’t who I thought she was.”

I almost laughed.

His eyes were shadowed with exhaustion.

“She’s too sensitive. She’s convinced my mother looks down on her because her wolf is weak, and she thinks I still have feelings for you. If I say one word about you, she can’t sleep all night, and sometimes her wolf won’t even respond to her.”

I nodded.

“Then you should talk about me less.”

“No.”

He denied it instantly.

“That’s not what I mean.”

“Then what do you mean?”

He stared at me for a long time before asking in a low voice, “Adeline, did you know she was like this all along?”

I looked at him, the question so absurd it was almost breathtaking.

“And what if I did? Was I supposed to warn you? Would you have believed me? Or would you have assumed I was just jealous of her?”

Sebastian’s face went white.

Because we both knew the answer.
