He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 19

I didn’t attend my sister’s wedding.

My mother was furious.

“No matter what has happened, she is still your sister,” she said.

I was at my aunt’s house, confirming the dessert arrangements for my own wedding. I answered without looking up, “I know.”

My mother reined in her temper.

“If you don’t show up, what will people say?”

I finally looked up at her.

So that was it.

“You’re worried about what other people will think.”

My words made her face go stiff.

“Do you have to speak to me like that?”

“What would you prefer I say?” I asked. “Congratulations to Victoria and Sebastian, may they have a lifetime of happiness? That’s fine. I’ll have my assistant send a gift.”

My mother stood there for a long time before turning and leaving.

Maya peeked out the window.

Once my mother’s car was gone, she murmured, “She looked terrible.”

I smiled.

“Let her.”

In the past, a single frown from my mother could leave me anxious all day, replaying every word and action, trying to figure out what I’d done wrong.

Only now did I realize that one person’s expression really wasn’t that important.
