He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 28
My mother shot to her feet.
“Adeline!”
My sister finally panicked.
“You want them to lock me up?”
I asked, “You sabotaged public property and nearly caused two deaths. Shouldn’t you face the consequences?”
My mother was shaking with rage.
“She’s your own sister!”
There it was again.
I suddenly felt so tired.
“Mother, if I had been the only one to fall into that lake today, would you be this frantic?”
Her face went white.
“What are you saying? You’re my daughter, too.”
“Am I?”
I looked straight at her.
“After Victoria saved me when I was six, did you decide that my life no longer belonged entirely to me?”
She stood there, stunned.
I went on, “So when she took my things, it was only right. When she took my fiancé, I was supposed to support her. And now, after she nearly drowned me in an icy lake to sabotage my second engagement, I’m still supposed to forgive her. Is that it?”
My mother’s lips moved, but no sound came out.
For a moment, I thought I might cry.
But no tears came.
Once your heart is truly dead, it seems you can’t cry anymore.
My father closed his eyes and finally spoke, his voice heavy. “Hand over the records and the phone.”
My mother shrieked, “Thomas!”
For the first time in my life, my father didn’t back down.
“Enough! How long are you going to keep doing this? They are both your daughters!”
My mother stood frozen, her face a mask of disbelief.
