He Left Me For My Sister Now He Begs For Me Back Chapter 27
The railing hadn’t broken from age. Someone had sawed through it beforehand. The tool marks were fresh, and maintenance shed access logs showed that the temp worker had been there alone the night before.
Furious, my father ordered security to call the local authorities and notify the Crown Pack’s public order department.
Faced with the logs and the record of a large deposit into his account, the worker confessed.
He said my sister’s personal assistant had paid him.
My mother’s first response was, “Impossible.”
My sister lay in a temporary medical room, her face as white as the sheets.
“I didn’t know. She must have done it on her own.”
The assistant, however, burst into tears and denied it.
She handed over her phone. On it were encrypted messages from my sister.
The plan had never been for both of us to fall in.
Victoria had intended to grab the broken railing just as Gavin was passing by, staging an accidental fall.
She knew Gavin was an excellent swimmer, and she knew the Westmoor Pack’s protective detail would spring into action.
She wanted to force Gavin to rescue her personally.
She thought that if Gavin carried her from the water in front of all the foundation’s guests and photographers, it would create a scandal.
Even if Gavin wouldn’t cancel our wedding, she would have carved out a place in his memory that he could never ignore.
The medical room was terrifyingly quiet.
My father sat by the window, looking as though he had aged ten years in a single night.
My brother stared in disbelief. My mother’s lips trembled uncontrollably.
Only I was calm.
I asked my sister, “Is it true?”
Tears immediately streamed down her face.
“Adeline, I was just confused for a moment.”
I nodded.
“All right.”
My mother seized on my response.
“You heard her. Victoria knows she was wrong now.”
I looked at her.
“And?”
My mother froze.
I said, “Turn all the evidence over to the Crown Pack’s public order department.”
