The Prince Let Me Die Now He Begs For My Love Chapter 05

When my mother learned what had happened at the mate-selection banquet, she was deeply disappointed in me.

She was not only my mother but also Cedarbrook Pack’s Luna. She understood that what I had rejected was not just a man, but a royal alliance that would have benefited the Pack.

I hugged her leg and sobbed.

“Being the Crown Prince’s wife is too exhausting.”

“I don’t have ambitions that big. I just want to marry someone ordinary and dependable and live an easy life.”

Nothing could be changed now.

My mother was silent for a long time before she finally sighed.

“Then discuss marriage with the younger son of the Mercer family.”

“He was actually the match I had in mind for Evelyn. The Mercers don’t govern a Pack, they only do business, so she looked down on them.”

My eyes lit up at once.

“Gavin Mercer?”

“Mercer Logistics is the Crown’s biggest transport and port contractor, and Queen Helena is his paternal aunt. How is that ordinary?”

My mother laughed in spite of herself.

“You only see the money.”

Even so, she contacted Gavin’s mother that very day to arrange a formal meeting.

Evelyn stayed behind at Royal Castle to study royal protocol and the rules of public appearances.

Half a month later, she asked Queen Helena to summon me to keep her company.

The moment I entered her suite, she pulled me aside, her expression nervous.

“Vivian, the reply letters Adrian sent you—did you bring them?”

In my previous life, she had secretly read those replies and memorized every detail. That was how she had been able to answer Adrian’s questions so smoothly.

I answered calmly, “I burned them.”

Evelyn bit her lip.

“Are you blaming me?”

“There are too many rules in the royal family. If you married into it, you’d only suffer. I did this for your own good.”

“Besides, you always said you didn’t like Adrian.”

She was right.

Queen Helena had once deliberately arranged for Adrian and me to admire paintings and attend charity events together.

But he never smiled much, and deep down, I was afraid of him.

I always maintained perfect manners around him, and he clearly found me dull.

Every meeting between us was filled with nothing but silence and awkwardness.

Evelyn had always been competitive, and she was smarter than me, too.

She was better suited to life at Royal Castle, and she and Adrian did seem like a better match.

But in my previous life, her deception had caused me immeasurable suffering.

That, I would not forget.

I smiled at her.

“I won’t stop you from marrying Adrian.”

“But from now on, you will bear the consequences of your own choices. Don’t come to me again.”
