The Prince Let Me Die Now He Begs For My Love Chapter 14

Back in the ballroom, my heart was still racing.

The table was covered in food, but I had no appetite.

Halfway through the banquet, Queen Helena invited me to the head table.

Holding my hand, she smiled at the guests from the various Packs.

“Gavin is my own nephew, and Vivian will soon be his wife.”

“If he dares bully you, come straight to me. I’ll deal with him myself.”

“You have no idea how much I once hoped you would become my daughter-in-law.”

With every sentence she spoke, Evelyn’s face, where she sat below, turned a shade whiter.

It had only been a few days, but she had already grown much thinner.

The excitement and confidence she had worn at the mate-selection banquet had vanished completely.

Adrian sat beside her with his eyes lowered, seeming lost in thought.

I presented Queen Helena with the birthday gift I had prepared.

It was a velvet cushion I had designed and sewn by hand, embroidered with flowers so detailed and vivid they looked alive.

Queen Helena ran her fingers over the stitching, delighted.

“After all these years, your handiwork is still this lovely.”

“It’s far more mature than that watercolor of sparrows and swallows you gave me the year before last.”

Smiling, she asked, “I’ve always wondered—why do the birds in your paintings never have eyes?”

My body went rigid.

The ballroom fell abruptly silent.

And Adrian laughed without a sound.

He laughed as his fingers tightened.

The crystal glass in his hand shattered under his werewolf strength.

The crisp sound of it breaking rang through the hall.

Queen Helena started in alarm.

“Adrian?”

“Call the Royal Healer.”

Adrian didn’t look at the blood on his hand.

His wolf was already healing the wound quickly, but blood still dripped through his fingers onto the white tablecloth.

Expressionless, he stared at me.

“I’m fine.”
