At My Baby Shower He Celebrated Another Woman’s Child Chapter 11

Brooke straddled Sadie, fisted her hair, and slapped her again.

“If I hadn’t thought Clara was Ethan’s child, why would I have defended you? Why would I have gone to baby classes with you and agreed to be her godmother?”

“Ethan is dead! He was someone I truly loved!”

Her voice broke, and tears splattered onto the smeared frosting.

“You used a dead man to build a lie, and you made me turn on a friend I’ve had for twenty years!”

Sadie fought back, scratching Brooke’s face and shoving her off.

“Don’t you dare act so innocent!”

She was panting, her makeup a chaotic smear.

“Whatever feelings you had for Ethan died a long time ago. You didn’t love him. You just couldn’t stand that he died and left you with nothing!”

“You hovered around Clara because you wanted to use her to get your hands on Ethan’s estate and keep your place in this family. Godmother? You practically wished you were her mother!”

Brooke went white and raised her hand to strike her again.

Sadie had thrown all caution to the wind, her laughter shrill and manic.

“And you, Nora—did you really help me because you pitied me?”

The room went instantly quiet.

Brooke’s hand froze in midair.

Sadie pointed at her, her voice sharp and venomous.

“You were jealous that her family was better than yours, that her career was more successful, and that she was the one who married Graham. Every time you stood next to her, you felt like nothing more than an accessory!”

“Shut up!”

Brooke lunged, trying to cover her mouth.

Sadie bit her hand, broke free, and screamed:

“You came to me first! You said you were sick of living in Nora’s shadow and you wanted me to help you drive her away from Graham!”

Every eye in the room turned to Brooke.

Sadie sneered, twisting the final knife.

“It was you who taught me how to edit the doorbell footage. You were the one who wrote the script for what I should tell the police!”
