At My Baby Shower He Celebrated Another Woman’s Child Chapter 10

Caleb tore open the envelope, his eyes locked on Sadie.

“After she got pregnant, she decided an ordinary engineer like me couldn’t give her the life she wanted. So when Ethan Mercer died, she claimed the baby was his posthumous child so she could get her into the Mercer family trust.”

“You’re lying!” Sadie shrieked. “I was never pregnant with your child!”

Caleb gave a cold laugh, pulled a document stamped by the court from the envelope, and handed it to the trust lawyer.

“This is a court-ordered paternity test. Clara Mercer—or rather, Clara Reed—is my daughter.”

The room went dead still.

The lawyer’s eyes flew to the conclusion page, his face darkening. Caleb began passing out copies. The exclusion results were undeniable—Clara had no biological link to either Ethan or Graham Mercer.

Graham stared at the paper, his fingers shaking so badly he could barely hold it.

Caleb continued, his voice ringing with conviction, “To get rid of me, she also fabricated domestic abuse claims, got a restraining order, then deliberately lured me into meeting her so I’d be arrested for violating it. The case files are all in there.”

Brooke snatched a report from his hand.

She read it twice, her entire body beginning to tremble.

“She’s not Ethan’s…”

She jerked her head up, her eyes blazing.

The next second, Brooke launched herself at Sadie, grabbing her by the hair and slamming her into the cake table.

Cream and champagne glasses crashed to the floor.

“How dare you use Ethan’s memory like that!”

Sadie screamed, clawing at Brooke’s face as the two women who had been inseparable just moments before were suddenly locked in a vicious brawl in front of every guest.
