The Diary Of An Unloved Wife Chapter 13

Beckett didn’t even know how he had survived these past five years.

He was afraid to sleep.

And he couldn’t sleep either.

Every time he closed his eyes, his mind automatically conjured up Iris’s disappointed eyes.

And he automatically replayed all the stupid things he had done over the years.

Every time he thought about it, he was so tormented by pain and regret that he couldn’t sleep all night.

He refused to get a divorce, thinking that one day she would show up.

He didn’t know where else to go, so coming here every day to wait for Iris seemed to have become a habit over the past five years.

He never really held out any hope.

However, just when even he thought he had lost her completely, fate brought a turning point.

Today, he came here as usual. When he saw that familiar figure by the tombstone, he thought his intense longing was making him hallucinate.

But he blinked hard.

She was still there.

His heartbeat accelerated instantly. Beckett’s breathing stopped, and his eyes could see nothing else but her figure.

Just as he finally held her, breathing in her familiar scent and about to speak, she shoved him away.

He stumbled back.

“Iris?”

As for me, looking at the man in front of me, I felt absolutely nothing.

Time hadn’t left many marks on his face; he just looked more mature than back then.

But it had nothing to do with me.

He tried to step forward, but I raised my hand to stop him.

“Don’t touch me.”

Beckett’s face went pale. When he met my distant gaze, it felt as though someone had closed a fist around his heart.

However, I remained unmoved.

Instead, I took a settlement agreement out of my bag and handed it over. “Sign it. Is there any point in dragging this out for five years?”

His body tensed instantly, and his eyes immediately grew wet.

“I won’t sign it.”

I sighed. “I don’t want to actually get to the point where the judge makes the ruling. If you sign it, we’ll settle, and this ends here. If you don’t sign it, I’ll see you at the hearing next month.”

He looked up at me. It was a look of sorrow I had never seen before.

“But Iris, things shouldn’t have ended up like this between us.”
