Matteo sat down beside me.
Even though he was terrified, he still carefully pushed a paper bag in my direction.
“I brought you lunch. You should try it later, okay?”
I heard another system speaking inside his head.
“I told you to make it yourself. Do you not understand? Slack off again and you will be punished.”
“She has to see your sincerity, or you’ll never earn her affection.”
“If her affection score doesn’t reach one hundred, you will be erased.”
“Current affection score: negative one hundred.”
Matteo’s hand shook.
That was when I realized the system in my own head was gone.
I asked it, “You switched targets?”
Its voice was very weak.
“Yes. You are now the center of this world. I can no longer bind myself to you.”
I nodded.
“Since he’s no longer the center, that means the DeLuca family’s luck is running out, right?”
“Of course. He is no longer the son of the richest man in the world. In two years, the DeLuca family will go bankrupt. Your own wealth will grow at an unnatural speed.”
Then I said, “Since you’re so low on energy, why not recruit a few more people to complete the task of winning me over? Matteo’s friends would be a good start. You’d recover faster that way.”
