I Made His Wife’s Dress Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 09

Grandfather fixed Julien with a hard stare. “You take a Whitmore heir away for six years, then think a simple ‘we’re married’ is enough of an explanation?”

“She wasn’t taken by me,” Julien said. “When she arrived in Paris, her accounts were frozen, her passport was close to expiring, and she was working night shifts in an unheated atelier. At that time, not one of you asked where she was.”

My father’s face darkened. “This is a family matter.”

“Which is why I’m only speaking to what I saw myself.”

Julien had his lawyer hand a folder to me—not to Grandfather.

Inside was the second medical opinion required for my mother’s entry into the kidney-paired exchange program, international matching materials, and a reserved bed at an independent post-op rehabilitation facility.

“Clara decides if any of this is used,” he said. “The costs are covered by the consulting fees she earned over six years with the Moreau Foundation. This is not my charity.”

For the first time, Grandfather didn’t answer immediately.
