He left quickly, the photographer scrambling after him with the equipment.
The last trace of color vanished from Sabine’s face.
“Clara, I truly thought you were alone in Paris.” Her voice shook. “I just wanted to find someone for you to rely on.”
“Six years ago, you put on my wedding dress. Six years later, you tried to pick out my husband.
I took a step toward her.
“Sabine, do you really think that if your tone is gentle enough, overstepping gets to be called concern?”
At last, her tears fell.
“And one more thing.” I looked at her coat. “The shoulder and sleeve structure on that garment came from master pattern C-17. Why is your name listed as the designer?”
Sabine froze.
