You Shipped Me Off I Married Your Boss Chapter 28

As a teenager, I devoured romance novels.

There was a phrase they used for male leads: “a beast in a suit.” Supposed to be an insult, but really, it was a compliment.

I never thought a man like Liam could have that side to him.

On our wedding day, he was all sharp angles and elegance. Tall. Composed. Untouchable as mountain snow.

Then the reception ended. The Tom Ford suit came off.

And he became the beast.

The first time I’d heard such burning words.

The first time a man called me mon cœur in French, over and over.

The first time someone coaxed me into those shameful positions.

The first time I cried from pain, and from pleasure.

The first time I truly understood what it was to be wanted. All night. Relentless.

And the day after I became a bride, I slept until noon.

While I was still tangled in the sheets—

Liam had already finished his morning run, his workout, tea, newspapers, news briefings. All of it.

Days later, the house staff told me, laughing.

“Ma’am, you have no idea. Mr. Campbell couldn’t stop smiling that day.”

“In all my years here, I’ve never seen him talk so much in one morning. He greeted everyone. Even my grandson.”

“Honestly, I think he wanted to hang a sign around his neck. Tell the world he’d gotten married. That he was completely, hopelessly in love with his bride.”

I was mortified. Delighted. I made an excuse and fled to the garden.

In the distance, I saw his black Cadillac Escalade pulling through the gate.

He stepped out. Handed his briefcase and jacket to a staff member.

And his eyes found me instantly.
