Leaving At Last Chapter 11

Leaving At Last Chapter 11

But I dragged him to the hospital anyway.

“Blair?”

I wasn’t surprised to see Briar.

This was the best hospital in the city, after all.

I paused for only a moment before my composure returned.

I smiled at him and pulled Auden forward.

“Are you busy right now?”

“Could you take a look at my boyfriend?”

At the words *my boyfriend*, Briar’s expression visibly stiffened.

“I’m not busy.”

In my memory, Briar had always been unshakable at work.

But now, he’d only asked Auden one question before his eyes turned red.

“Doctor, I’m fine.”

“I’ve had heart surgery before. Blair gets more nervous than I do.”

As Auden spoke, he casually hooked a pinky finger around mine.

I glanced down at my phone. On the screen was the message he’d just sent me.

[Having your ex-boyfriend examine your current boyfriend.]

[Only you would do something like this.]

I looked up at him, my tone growing more serious.

“Stop messing around. Let him check you out.”

“Thank you, Dr. Vale.”

As if he couldn’t bear the formal address, Briar’s voice trembled slightly.

“Blair, we don’t have to be like this.”

I shook my head.

“This is more appropriate.”

The examination was quick, and the results were fine. Nothing serious.

Before I left, Briar stopped me, his voice almost pleading.

“Can we talk for a few minutes?”
