I Gave The Prince To My Sister And Found My True Mate Chapter 03

In the second year of our marriage, Rosalie married into the Lakeshore Pack in the south.

Her husband, Elias Moore, was the acknowledged heir to the Pack Alpha—gentle, courteous, and trained in leadership by the finest tutors money could buy.

Mother said it was a match she had carefully chosen.

The Lakeshore Pack’s status could never overshadow the royal family, but it possessed fertile lakelands and stable commercial resources. Rosalie would never be wronged there.

On the wedding day, dozens of ceremonial cars rolled through Cedar Valley’s main street. The media camped outside the Alpha’s residence and followed all the way to the territorial gates. Nearly the entire kingdom saw Rosalie’s grand sendoff.

I stood at the gate of the prince’s royal estate and watched the convoy disappear into the distance. The weight that had crushed my heart for a year finally lifted.

She was married.

Whatever feelings existed between her and Lucian—feelings that should have never been there in the first place—had to end now.

That day, Lucian never came out of his study.

He turned off his phone, cut off his mind-link with his assistant, and locked himself inside for the entire day.

I didn’t disturb him.

I thought he probably needed time to dig those misguided feelings out of his heart.

But deep into the night, he burst into the bedroom reeking of alcohol and pinned me to the bed.

His eyes were bloodshot, his breath scorching. The wolf inside him was struggling on the edge of losing control, like a wounded beast with nowhere to direct its fury.

“Lucian…”

He clamped a hand over my mouth, silencing me.

That night he was rougher than he had been on our wedding night, as if to pour all the rage he couldn’t unleash elsewhere into me.

His grip left my wrists bruised purple. Even a werewolf’s accelerated healing couldn’t erase the marks immediately, and my tears soaked the pillow.

At the end, he bent to my ear, his voice hoarse.

“Audrey, from now on, I only have you.”

I closed my eyes and let the tears slide down.

I thought he had finally chosen me.

Only later did I understand that it wasn’t love.

It was simply that, after losing his first choice, he had settled for the one who was left.
