I Gave The Prince To My Sister And Found My True Mate Chapter 07

On the drive back to Cedar Valley from the Royal Castle, my mother held my hand, her spirits high.

“Audrey, thank goodness for you today. Rosalie still has a fever. If she’d forced herself through the broadcast, who knows what might have happened? Drawing that red card in her place helped the whole Pack.”

She paused, then lowered her voice.

“Once she marries into the royal family, she won’t treat you poorly.”

I gently withdrew my hand.

“I didn’t do anything. You don’t need to thank me.”

Mother faltered, as if she couldn’t quite adjust to my coldness.

In my last life, I had longed so desperately for one word of approval from her. Now, I was this calm.

After returning to the Alpha’s residence, I went to see Rosalie.

When I opened the door, even the air purifier couldn’t fully suppress the heavy medicinal smell in the room.

She was propped against the headboard, her golden-brown hair loose over her shoulders, her complexion pale. Yet she still carried the elegance that came from being meticulously cared for all her life.

When she saw me, her eyes curved in a smile.

“Audrey, I heard you were the one who drew the red card?”

I nodded.

She gave a soft sigh and took my hand.

“You’ve been wronged. Once I recover, I’ll make it up to you properly.”

Those were the exact same words my mother had used.

I looked at her, but another face surfaced in my mind.

On the day I drank aconite in my last life, Rosalie had been wearing the red ceremonial gown for the Luna Queen installation, the royal crest gleaming at her chest.

She stood before me, pity in her eyes.

“Audrey, you grew up outside. You don’t understand royal politics.”

“The future King could never care about only one woman. If you insist on keeping Lucian all to yourself, that isn’t love. It’s ruining him.”

“Whether you live or die, that position was never going to be yours in the end.”

I closed my eyes.

When I opened them again, all that remained in me was clarity.
