His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 06
“And now you’re hitting me and Tyler for him?”
“Because today, you both deserved it.”
Mason was breathing hard.
He took two steps toward me, trying to grab my hand again.
Julian reached out and blocked him.
“Don’t touch her.”
Mason violently knocked Julian’s hand away and raised his voice.
“Rebecca, how long are you going to keep this up?”
“I’m not keeping anything up,” I said.
“You’re the one making a scene.”
“The one standing on that stage today should be me!”
At that moment, a recording began to play through the ballroom’s sound system.
“Tell me—when Rebecca finds out we all lied to her, do you think she’ll cry?” That was Tyler’s voice.
Another man said, “So what if she cries? Mason says a few words and she’ll be fine.”
Natalie’s voice came next, hesitant.
“This isn’t right. She’s really preparing for this.”
Tyler laughed.
“That’s her problem. We’re just having some fun.”
“If she’s this desperate, who can she blame?”
There was a brief silence in the recording, then someone asked, “Mason, are you seriously going to wait until the day of the party to tell her?”
Mason’s voice came on. He sounded like he’d had a few drinks, his tone lazy and amused.
“Yeah. I just want to see her reaction.”
The recording was only halfway through when Mason lunged toward me. Julian stepped in front of me, shielding me with his body.
In that instant, I caught the faint, clean scent of laundry detergent on his shirt.Â
