His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 30

“I’ve heard everything I needed to.”

As I reached the door, she spoke again from behind me.

“When your mother used to see me, she could barely string a full sentence together.”

I stopped.

Patricia thought she’d found a weak spot. A flicker of triumph returned to her eyes.

I turned around.

“It’s not that she couldn’t speak.”

“She just thought that if she put up with you, it would make my life easier.”

“Now she knows it won’t.”

I opened the door.

“You won’t get another chance to make her uncomfortable again.”

After I left the hotel, I got a call from Caroline Whitfield.

She skipped the pleasantries.

“Rebecca, I only need to confirm one thing. Are the materials you released real and complete?”

“Yes.”

“The original recording is with your lawyer?”

“Yes.”

She was silent for two seconds.

“Good. I have no other questions.”

“Patricia just came to see me.”

“I know.”

“She wants me to tell you this is a private dispute.”

Caroline’s voice remained even.

“The way someone treats a person who has no value to them says everything about how they use power. That’s not a private matter.”

Before hanging up, she added, “You don’t owe the Whitfield family any explanation. I’m just making the necessary confirmation.”

The next day, the Whitfield family’s investment committee officially rejected the Westbrook proposal.

The email didn’t mention me.

There was only one line in the reason for rejection.

*Lack of confidence in the counterparty’s judgment and governance.*

But Patricia told Mason over the phone that I had ruined the Westbrook family.

She didn’t know he had her on speaker.

And she didn’t know that Tyler and two other people were in the room with him at the time.
