His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 35

The day Natalie came in to make her written statement, Boston saw its first snow of the year.

She wore an old gray coat and held the phone that had stored four years of evidence pressed to her chest.

We met at the door of the lawyer’s office.

She stopped first.

“Becca.”

“Let’s go in.”

She nodded and said nothing else.

The whole process took two hours.

She confirmed that she made the recordings, that she saved the screenshots, and that the files had never been altered.

The lawyer asked, “Why keep them for so long?”

Natalie clasped her hands together tightly.

“Because I knew what they were doing was wrong.”

“Why didn’t you tell Rebecca sooner?”

“Because I was a coward.”

Her voice was very soft.

“I was afraid of losing that group of friends. And I was afraid that if she forgave Mason in the end, everyone would blame me.”

“So you chose to let her handle it alone?”

Natalie’s face went pale.

“Yes.”

She didn’t try to make any excuses.

After the statement was finished, she handed her phone to the lawyer for final file verification.

In the hallway, only the two of us were left.

She asked, “Did you get the boxes?”

“I did.”

“I ruined a lot of them. I had to make several dozen extra before I got a thousand that looked decent.”

“How are your hands?”
