The Stolen Savior: He Loved The Wrong Sister Chapter 15
Nora and Camille were half-sisters. They did look somewhat alike.
That was why Lucian had gotten them mixed up. Camille bore a faint resemblance to Nora, especially around the eyes. And Camille was thin, which matched the small, slender figure in Lucian’s memory even better.
But Nora actually resembled her mother more. She and Camille shared only a faint resemblance.
Now that Nora had slimmed down, the figure in Lucian’s memory finally aligned perfectly with the person before him. The instant he saw her, he understood everything.
He’d gotten the wrong person.
The one who’d risked her life to save Snowball from the fire was Nora.
“Nora, why didn’t you tell me you were the one who saved Snowball?” Lucian asked, his voice hoarse. “I had private investigators look into it, but all they found was that the girl was from the Hartley family.”
At that, Nora finally lifted her eyes and granted him a single glance. “Am I not from the Hartley family?”
The words shut him down instantly.
Right. Wasn’t Nora from the Hartley family? She was the child born of that marriage, the beneficiary whose name was written in black and white on the family trust.
But because she was fat, he’d overlooked her. He hadn’t even bothered to dig deeper before deciding that the one who’d saved Snowball was the thin, pretty Camille.
“That was my mistake,” Lucian said heavily. “I should have investigated more thoroughly.”
He paused, then added, “Nora, you should know I’m not someone who only cares about appearances.”
“I got it wrong because when you saved Snowball, your arms and legs were long and thin. You held Snowball, your hair singed, your eyes wide and frightened. That fragility struck me instantly.”
“That image left a deep impression. So I assumed you’d grow up to be slender and delicate. And Camille kept misleading me. That’s why I got it wrong.”Â
