The Stolen Savior: He Loved The Wrong Sister Chapter 17
If Lucian had explained himself this earnestly before, then even if his initial intentions with Nora hadn’t been pure, she would have forgiven him.
But now, after being repeatedly shoved down stairs by men Lucian paid, after having her clothes torn off and being publicly humiliated, after being wrongly accused again and again, after being beaten with a golf club by Camille and her people—explanations no longer mattered.
Nora had completely let go of Lucian. She didn’t need his explanations.
So after hearing him out, she responded flatly, “Are you done? Please give me back my earbud. I’d like to get back to my podcast.”
Her coldness cut deep.
He clutched the earbud and gritted his teeth. “After all this time apart, that’s the only thing you have to say to me?”
“Yes.” Nora’s tone remained flat. “There’s nothing left to say between us.”
Those words stabbed into Lucian’s heart like a blade.
The always composed, aloof Lucian suddenly lost control. “Nora, what’s that supposed to mean? What do you mean there’s nothing left to say? Don’t forget, we’re still together! You’re still my girlfriend!”
Nora’s gaze dimmed slightly. “Together? Then tell me, Mr. Hawthorne, did you ever actually confess your feelings to me?”
Lucian’s breath caught. His heart began to sink.
But before he could answer, Nora hit him with another deadly question. “And Mr. Hawthorne, during our time together, did you ever publicly acknowledge me as your girlfriend to your friends or family?”Â
