My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 27
That night, I took out the wedding shoes.
Conrad sat beside me, not asking what I planned to do, just being there.
I ran my fingers over the embroidered threads and thought of twenty-year-old Rafael, bent over his work, making them just for me.
Back then, we both thought forever was real.
Conrad asked quietly, “Are you having trouble letting them go?”
I shook my head.
“No.”
“I just want to properly say goodbye to the girl I used to be.”
I didn’t burn the shoes.
I didn’t throw them away.
The next day, I packed the shoes into a box with all the other old things the Romanos had kept for me.
Then I locked the box and had it sent to a storage unit.
The past isn’t something I can’t bear to look at.
I just don’t want it taking up space in my present.
When Chloe found out, she insisted on taking me out to dinner.
Halfway through the meal, she slid a folder across the table.
“Remember that proposal Margot stole from you?”
My hand stilled.
