My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 36

“Mommy!”

My daughter’s clear voice drifted up from downstairs.

I walked to the window and saw her holding Conrad’s hand, a huge bouquet cradled in her arms.

All these years, Conrad had never taken off that braided bracelet.

The color had faded, but he refused to replace it.

When I came downstairs, my daughter ran to me.

She stuffed the flowers into my arms and tilted her head back.

“Daddy said Mommy is the most amazing today.”

“And what about other days?”

Conrad came to my side and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

“She’s the most amazing on other days, too.”

Chloe cleared her throat nearby.

“Could you two get a room? There are employees present.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

Sunlight streamed across the new plaque, illuminating the name: Helena Ferraro.

I once thought that because the Romano family took me in, I owed them my life.

I once thought that because Rafael had loved me, I had to keep letting him chip away at me until nothing was left.

And I once thought that when I got into that car, my life was no longer my own.

But I finally understood.

Kindness can be repaid.

Harm does not have to be forgiven.

A marriage should be a partnership, not a dependency.

And as for my life, the only person who gets to decide its direction has always been me.

I took Conrad’s hand.

Our daughter held one of mine and one of his.

Ahead of me was the career I had built. Beside me was the family I had chosen.

What’s done is done.

But where I go from here? That’s up to me.

The End
