He Married Another So I Accepted My Arranged Husband Chapter 11

I found myself staring at the hand he had on the steering wheel.

“What are you looking at?” he asked.

I quickly looked away.

“Desmond, there are countless women who would want to marry you. Why me?”

He offered a faint smile.

“We’re already married, Indigo. You don’t have to treat me like we’re on opposite sides of a negotiating table.”

“The public wedding will be handled however you wish. Your name, your inheritance, and your career won’t change just because you married a Bellandi.”

“And choosing you wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision.”

He turned his head then, his gaze meeting mine for a moment.

“But are you sure you want to know why?”

Hearing that, I found the urgency of my question fading.

The last six years had taught me enough.

Don’t waste all your energy asking why someone chose you.

And never, ever pin your hopes on whether or not they love you.

For people like us, Desmond and me, married first with the getting-to-know-you part to come later, I should expect even less.

I turned my face toward the rain-streaked window.

“It’s not that important.”

“If you don’t want to say, you can tell me some other time.”

When it came to feelings, I no longer had the energy to overanalyze anything.

But he said, “I’ll tell you later.”

“Don’t worry, Indigo. I would never trade your name, your career, or your family for anyone’s support.”
