My Guardian Married My Sister But I’m His Alpha Chapter 77
Six months later, the Coney Island amusement park reopened for the season.
Griffin asked Chiara a week in advance if she had time.
She moved her Council meeting to the morning and met him at the shore that afternoon.
Many of the old booths had changed.
But the game stall where she had won the steel ring was still there, though the owner no longer recognized them.
Griffin spent twenty dollars and won nothing.
Chiara stood beside him, laughing.
“You used to be good at this.”
“You were the one who won that day.”
“Only because you stood behind me and kept the crowd from pushing.”
“So I was just the protector.”
Griffin set down the last plastic ring and turned to her.
The sea wind tousled his hair.
“Now I want to change that role.”
Chiara looked at him for a few seconds.
“And what are you trying to decide for me now?”
“Nothing.”
He didn’t kneel. He didn’t pull out a velvet box with some impossibly expensive ring.
He simply opened his hand.
In his palm lay a single, orange-flavored hard candy.
Just like the one from when she was four.
“Chiara Moretti.”
“Will you register a marriage with me?”
“Not for an alliance. Not for an Alpha and Luna. Not for the duty your father left me.”
“Only because I love you, and because I want to spend my life with you.”
The world around them was a cacophony of sound.
In the distance, the roller coaster plunged from its peak, the riders’ screams carried on the wind.
Chiara unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth.
It still tasted of orange.
“After we register, I am still the Alpha of Nightfall.”
“Of course.”
“I sign all Moretti Holdings decisions myself.”
“Of course.”
“And you don’t get to use silence and sacrifice to protect me anymore.”
Griffin looked at her, his expression serious.
“I won’t.”
Only then did Chiara place the hand wearing the steel ring into his open palm.
“Then yes.”
Griffin’s fingers tightened around hers, and his eyes slowly reddened.
Chiara looked up at him.
“Don’t cry. People are watching.”
“I’m not.”
“Your scent is giving you away.”
He laughed and bent to kiss her lightly on the forehead.
“The Alpha is right.”
