She let out a sigh.

“Too bad it’s too late now. Isolde’s really unlucky.”

Tucker’s whole body jolted, and for the first time in his life, a heavy, violent hatred rose inside him.

Maybe he truly hadn’t cared that much about what happened to other people.

But Isolde was different.

Isolde was the woman he loved.

His hand tightened around Sloane’s throat.

Little by little, she could no longer speak, only claw desperately at his hand.

For the first time, real fear showed in her eyes.

Only when she was on the verge of blacking out did Tucker let go.

Sloane dropped to her knees, clutching her throat and coughing violently.

“If Isolde is hurt at all, don’t ever show your face in front of me again.”

It was the first time Tucker had ever loathed someone so completely.

Sloane flinched, lowering her head and refusing to meet his eyes.

A few people had gone out “exploring,” wanting to check out a “haunted apartment” nearby that had stood empty for a long time.

Instead, they were nearly scared out of their minds by several Ferraro outer-circle men hiding inside.
