Tucker snapped, his hand clamping around Sloane’s throat.
“Call them off.”
He couldn’t bear to imagine how frightened Isolde must be right now.
Sloane looked baffled.
“What are you so scared of? She’s not going to die. At worst, they’ll scare her for a night.”
“Isn’t that basically the same as when she almost got dragged into that car? You didn’t seem to care that much then, either.”
“Who said I didn’t care?” Tucker roared.
He had been shaken by the bar incident.
It was just that nothing had ultimately happened, so he hadn’t made a bigger issue of it with Sloane.
Sloane laughed.
“Well, you should have said so. If you don’t say it, how am I supposed to know?”
“Every time, you acted like you thought it was funny, too. Of course I kept going.”
Her face was bruised and swollen from the beating, but her eyes only turned nastier.
“Before, when I hit the woman before Isolde with my car and crippled her, you didn’t say a word either.”
“When my family cut me off overseas, weren’t you the one who kept wiring me money?”
“You buried the testimony for me. You kept Ferraro Family protection over me. How is that any different from what I did?”
