The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 18
The person who told me about it laughed with me for a long time.
The people Sloane sent never found me.
The Moretti Family’s advisers had sealed off my whereabouts. All they found was the apartment I’d already moved out of.
When I reached my building, I suddenly saw Tucker under the foreign streetlights.
He was still wearing that groom’s suit, now wrinkled beyond recognition.
Only a few days had passed, but he looked years older.
The moment he saw me, he hurriedly crushed a cigarette out in his palm.
“I was just trying to stay awake…”
Because I had never let him smoke. I was a doctor; I couldn’t help but manage things like that.
“Whatever,” I cut him off.
Tucker’s face went white.
He paused, then spoke.
“I already gave the list of the men who touched you at the wedding to the Moretti Family advisers. They’re questioning them one by one.”
“I’m sorry. Sloane tampered with things. If I’d known those were your parents’ real ashes, I never would have poured them into the fish tank.”
He held out a small box to me.
“This is all I could recover. Wherever you want to bury them, I’ll handle it.”
I didn’t take it.
On the day of the wedding, I had already had that fish tank taken care of.
“So if they weren’t my parents’ real ashes, it would have been fine to treat me like that?”
My parents had already been reburied elsewhere.
Somewhere not in any Family record. Tucker and Sloane would never find them.
As for the box in his hand, who knew what was really inside.
