The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 19

“Tucker, go. We have nothing to do with each other anymore.”

I turned and started upstairs.

“Isolde, don’t do this.”

He caught my sleeve, his eyes glistening.

“I’ll bring Sloane to apologize. You can deal with her however you want. From now on, whatever you say goes.”

I gave a faint, crooked smile.

“Don’t put this all on Sloane. Weren’t you the one giving her power the whole time?”

“After my ear was hurt, wasn’t it you who bought her that car?”

“At the engagement party, I was drunk and almost abducted. I begged you to come get me, and you refused. Wasn’t that you?”

“We were supposed to get our marriage license, and instead you spent the night with Sloane and missed it. Wasn’t that you?”

“At my own wedding, I was humiliated and my wrist was dislocated. You stood there making transfers, telling everyone to keep going. Wasn’t that you?”

With every sentence I spoke, Tucker’s grip on my sleeve loosened.

“I knew you for three years, and I never saw you as clearly as I did in these last three months.”

I looked at him.

“Tucker, I can’t live like this. Let me go.”

At last, his hand fell away.

“Isolde, I’ll settle this.”
