My Family Regret When They Lose Me Chapter 10
I never bothered to check what was happening back in New York.
But the family group chat notifications wouldn’t stop.
At first, every message was an insult.
“Don’t ever call us family again.”
“After all these years, we might as well have raised a dog.”
“You make me sick.”
I never replied.
Later, the tone slowly changed.
“I went to your company to find you, and they said you resigned. When did you do that?”
“You’ve liquidated your assets and put the house and car up for sale. What the hell are you doing?”
Later still came a long message from my father.
“Marco’s a wreck. He’s not even managing the company. Even if you’re angry, there should be a limit. Disappearing like this is no way to handle things.”
“And what’s this about the divorce papers you sent him?”
“He’s the man you chose. If there’s a misunderstanding, can’t you just talk it out? What married couple doesn’t fight?”
“Taking this to court for a divorce… it’s an ugly way to handle things, don’t you think?”
“Chloe is in the hospital with a fever. She keeps crying for her mommy until her voice is hoarse.”
“Beatrice, listen to me. If you’re angry, take it out on the adults. The child is innocent. Please, come back and see her.”
