He Called Me A Stone And Chose Her Pearl Chapter 28
Wedding music drifted from outside the room.
But this was not Arden Royal Castle.
It was the Northcrest Pack’s ceremonial center in the capital.
The door opened.
Nolan walked in.
Only then did I realize I was strapped to a chair. The restraints on my wrists were designed for out-of-control werewolves, and with the drug still suppressing my strength, I had no way to shift.
My phone, my royal access pass, and my wedding wristband were all gone.
Nolan approached with a tray of food.
“Vanessa, the ceremony doesn’t start for a little while. You should eat something.”
I stared at him coldly.
His eyes darted away. He knew exactly who was sitting in front of him.
“Nolan, you and Vanessa have conspired to switch the Crown’s chosen partner and illegally detain the future Luna Queen. Do you understand the consequences of treason?”
His face went pale, but he forced a smile.
“What are you talking about? Today is our wedding.”
“Once we complete the registration, you’ll understand. We were always the ones who were meant to be together.”
His arrogance almost made me laugh.
“Do you really think I’m an object you can just hand off to each other?”
Nolan stepped forward, his voice urgent.
“You liked me first.”
“Have you forgotten? We argued over the same passages in those books a dozen times, neither of us willing to give in. We’re the ones who are truly suited for each other.”
“Theo is the Alpha King. He will always have the Council, the packs, the entire kingdom demanding his attention. You’ll just be waiting for whatever time he can spare you.”
“If you marry me, I will choose only you for the rest of my life. Isn’t that better than being a prisoner in Royal Castle?”
I was about to tell him to stop dreaming when the door was kicked open with a single, violent blow.
Theo stood in the doorway, flanked by armed Royal Guard.
His eyes were glowing gold with the fury of his wolf.
