My Best Friend My Husband And My Divorce Chapter 03

My Best Friend My Husband And My Divorce Chapter 03

For several days, Caleb didn’t return to our home.

I contacted my attorney and drafted a divorce settlement agreement.

During this time, Zoe called me.

I answered, just about to speak.

Ambiguous sounds of lips and teeth mingling came through the phone.

After some rustling, Zoe’s usually gentle voice carried a hint of seductiveness.

“Don’t misunderstand, Caleb drank too much at the bar and mistook me for you.”

“He’s been staying at my place these past few days. Once he calms down, he’ll go back. Don’t overthink it.”

Her tone carried barely concealed smugness.

I felt no emotional fluctuation and calmly hung up the phone.

Similar situations had occurred frequently over the years.

Caleb and I had walked from high school prom to the wedding altar – we were the perfect childhood sweethearts in everyone’s eyes.

Zoe was my best friend since childhood, crying and laughing with me.

I had always considered them the two most important people in my life.

But I never noticed anything unusual about the two of them. They had been treating me like a fool, keeping me in the dark.

I began packing my suitcase, preparing to move out.

That evening, Caleb returned with Zoe.

As soon as they entered, he first helped Zoe take off her trench coat.

Then he squatted down and personally put on her indoor cashmere slippers.

As if he had done this countless times, his movements were completely natural.

Caleb met my gaze and paused.

“Today is your birthday. I brought Zoe to celebrate with you.”

“You should have calmed down by now after all these days.”

Zoe walked forward and took my hand, smiling innocently:

“Happy birthday.”

“I specially baked a cupcake for you myself.”

I looked at the cake in her hand, remembering what she had posted on her Instagram Stories that morning:

“Baked a cake for that idiot, and I specially added peanut crumbles that she’s severely allergic to.”

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen her take an ambulance ride with an EpiPen. I miss it.”

Her smile at this moment was sickeningly fake.

I coldly shook off her hand.

“Get out. You’re not welcome here.”

Zoe’s eyes immediately reddened, and she lowered her head somewhat helplessly.

Caleb grabbed my hand and dragged me aside, his voice ice-cold:

“What do you mean? If you don’t want to continue this marriage, just say it directly. Why are you taking it out on others!”

I looked into his eyes and said word by word:

“Then let’s contact a lawyer for divorce.”

He was obviously stunned:

“What did you say?”
