He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 12
He stared at me as if he were hearing that for the first time.
I didn’t explain further. I walked over to my briefcase and pulled a folder from the inner compartment.
Inside was the business card of a divorce attorney and a printed explanation of how jointly owned property is divided.
Marisol had given it to me the day before.
She had warned me that if Daniel really intended for Tessa to stay long-term, then arguing over who lived in the main house and who lived in the ADU was no longer enough.
I needed to act quickly to protect my share of the property.
Daniel didn’t see what was in the folder. He was still standing there, trying to drag the conversation back to his needs.
“So Tuesday—you really can’t pick Noah up? I have an important meeting at five.”
I closed the folder.
“Then tell your boss you have a family emergency.”
He fired back immediately. “You can’t just drop work like that.”
I looked at him for two seconds.
“So you do know that.”
Daniel’s face tightened.
Every time Tessa had some last-minute crisis, he had expected me to cancel meetings, delay projects, even drive to her son’s school during work hours.
