He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 19

“She’s sleeping here?”

Daniel gave a vague nod.

I suddenly asked, “Where are you sleeping tonight?”

He avoided my eyes.

“Mom’s staying in the ADU. The guest room in the main house is Noah’s, Tessa’s in the master bedroom, so I’m sleeping on the couch.”

I looked at him.

“What about me?”

Daniel was quiet for two seconds, as if he were mentally trying to calculate where one more object might fit.

“The sofa is big. You can just squeeze in with me tonight, and we’ll figure something else out tomorrow.”

I laughed.

I had put up the larger share of the down payment on this house. The mortgage, taxes, and repairs had all come mostly out of my accounts, too.

But now the master bedroom belonged to Tessa, the guest room belonged to Noah, the ADU belonged to Daniel’s mother, and even half of the living room couch would be his to dole out to me.

There was not a single bed in the entire house that belonged to me.

I didn’t argue anymore. I just wheeled my suitcase to the door.

Daniel followed. “Claire, where are you going?”

I opened the door.

“To a hotel.”

In my second week living in a serviced apartment near the office, the front desk told me a large box had arrived.
