The DNA Test That Backfired Chapter 13

I looked down at him.

A man who could forget a debt of life itself.

A man who could, in front of his entire family, call the child who had saved him a burden, and call the wife who had stood by him a liar.

I no longer had any faith in the “start over” he was offering now.

“Zane, get up,” I said. “This is useless.”

I turned and picked up Teddy’s little backpack.

“The person you want just came back, didn’t she?” I said calmly. “Go find her.”

We divorced soon after.

I didn’t take a single cent from the Marino family. I only took Teddy and the things my sister had left him.

Zane’s parents insisted on transferring an apartment into Teddy’s name, saying it was both compensation and a gesture of gratitude to the child.

I had wanted to refuse, but in the end, I accepted it on his behalf.

Zane really did go after Camille.

He probably thought that with me out of the way, they could finally be together.

But he forgot that Camille had never cared about him as a person.
