Reborn To Reject My Regretful Mate For The King Chapter 18
aThe Royal Council was flooded with complaints.
Finally, Gavin signed an order of investigation, commanding the Royal Guard to bring Magnus to the capital for a public inquiry.
Magnus got word of the order and vanished for several months.
When he reappeared, he had allied himself with several packs dissatisfied with the Crown and launched a rebellion.
On the night Royal Castle fell, Magnus shattered Gavin’s legs with his own hands.
“After I got the King out, he didn’t trust anyone,” Rhys said.
“But now, he’s willing to trust you with his safety while he sleeps.”
“Camille, when he threatens to kill you, it’s only because he’s terrified you’ll leave.”
At first, I didn’t understand why Rhys was telling me this.
Gavin continued on as usual, accepting my treatments and processing encrypted messages from loyal packs across the kingdom.
He also brought in a surgical healer.
Dr. Elias Ward spent six hours removing the silver residue from Gavin’s knees.
After the examination, Elias’s expression was grim.
“Your wolf’s healing has been restored, but the skeletal damage is too severe. It will be a very long time before you can walk normally again, if ever.”
When he heard the news, Gavin didn’t look at his legs.
He looked at me.
I couldn’t read the expression in his eyes.
Two months later, Magnus’s men found the safe house.
