He Signed My Freedom Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 29
I remembered that moment.
At the time, Ember had sent a tearing pain through my chest. I thought it was the sound of love being crushed. Only later did I understand it was my dignity, finally telling me to leave.
After that argument, I never asked again.
Lucian mistook my silence for acceptance.
He drank alone in the guest room all night, then avoided the pack manor for weeks under the excuse of territorial inspections.
In the file, the elders asked him why he had requested the restoration of my Luna registration.
Lucian said only, “Highridge needs her, and the pups need her.”
The elder asked, “And what about you? Are you willing to complete the claim and answer for the harm caused by your past orders?”
He was silent for a long time.
In the end, he gave no answer.
By the time I reached that point, I already knew the reconsideration would fail.
He still didn’t want me back because he had finally seen me.
He only saw a household that had suddenly stopped running smoothly.
The final hearing opinion was even more direct: Alpha Lucian had failed to prove deception in the claim cancellation, as the document’s title, the consequences of the action, and the witness period were all clearly stated. His regret over signing without reading did not constitute grounds for revoking the will of the other party.
The hearing officer also cited the wolfsbane poisoning and the elevator rescue records, ruling that restoring my Luna authority could expose me to further risk from the Alpha’s orders.
This was not a judgment about whether he still loved me.
The rules asked only two questions: Had I knowingly chosen to leave, and did he have the right to force me back?
The answers were clear.
