He Scorned My Love Now He Watches My Rise Chapter 19

My request was approved that same day.

The Nightfall pack’s council of elders scheduled the public review for three days later. The vote on the transport-line partnership was postponed until after the result.

After reading the notice, my director asked, “Do you want to switch project leads?”

“No.”

“Bianca is obviously trying to drag personal grudges into this project.”

“All the more reason I can’t step back.”

I put my luggage in the company apartment.

Three years ago, when I left this city with two suitcases, they said I wouldn’t last three days.

Three years later, I came back with two successful transport lines under my belt. If I were replaced because of one objection from Bianca, it would only prove that the Beta’s daughter really could decide who was qualified to work.

“I’m not going to argue with her.”

I opened my laptop.

“Let the record speak for itself.”

I didn’t need to hunt for evidence.

The group chat screenshots from three years ago had already been posted by Colton in the Nightfall public channel.

The voice messages I had saved before leaving the group, and the video Bianca had sent me, were still on my old phone.

The expense sheet, transfer records, the unboxing video of my returned things, the cancellation receipt for the claim ceremony, and the withdrawal record for my Luna candidacy all still carried their original dates.

There were also my mother’s medical bill, the healer’s signature, and the two overseas assignment applications I had voluntarily withdrawn.

The mall surveillance footage had already been made public by Colton. In it, Bianca had asked the saleswoman about the price and learned that I had been paying for the watch in installments.

Everything had already existed three years ago.

All I did was put it in chronological order and submit it, piece by piece, to the review office.

The final item was the check Colton had sent back, along with his note.

I had not cashed the check. I had not accepted the money.

The director looked over the index of evidence and fell silent.

“Back then, this is what they saw and decided you were after his money?”

“No.”

I closed the laptop.

“Back then, they never really looked.”

They decided what kind of person I was first, then interpreted everything I did as proof of some hidden motive.

The day before the review, Bianca sent me a message.

[Do you really have to blow this up?]

I didn’t answer.

A second message followed.

[Withdraw the public review, and I’ll withdraw my objection. The project can proceed, and we can let the past stay in the past.]

I forwarded both messages to the review office. I still didn’t reply to her.

Ten minutes later, Colton called.

I answered.

“Bianca came to you?”

“She contacted the project lead, not your ex.”

He drew in a sharp breath.

“I’ll be there tomorrow.”

“Your attendance won’t change the record.”

“I know.”

He paused.

“I just owe you a public acknowledgment.”

“What you owe was never just a sentence.”

I hung up.
