My Family Stole My Run I Returned A Leader Chapter 15
“We know we were wrong.”
“Can you forgive us?”
“Come home with us.”
Tony stepped forward, too.
“Paloma, I treated you terribly.”
“Bella’s abroad for an exchange program now. She won’t bother you anymore.”
“Come back.”
“From now on, whatever you say goes.”
My father stood to the side, silent, but his eyes were pleading.
I looked at them and felt nothing but a sense of absurdity.
“Home?”
I gave a small smile.
“Three years ago, when I left that house and severed my Cedar Ridge affiliation, that home ceased to exist for me.”
“I don’t accept your apology.”
“What happened, happened. Your regret doesn’t erase any of it.”
“I don’t need your compensation.”
“And I don’t want any relationship with any of you, ever again.”
Tony looked at the Morningwatch crest on my chest.
“But Cedar Ridge is the pack you were born into.”
“Birth doesn’t decide my affiliation.”
I answered calmly.
“What Morningwatch gave me wasn’t a fancier room.”
“They recognized my ability, respected my choices, and gave me responsibilities.”
“I earned this place myself. You have no right to take it away.”
I turned to Stefan, who still hadn’t spoken.
He was much thinner. There was stubble on his jaw, and he looked exhausted.
He looked at me, his voice raw and hoarse.
“Paloma, even me?”
He pulled an old metal tin from his bag.
“I gathered up every scrap of the letters that wasn’t completely burned.”
“I was wrong. I was so wrong.”
“I never loved Bella. I never planned to register a courting bond with her.”
“I was just used to taking care of her.”
“In my heart, it was always you.”
