My Family Stole My Run I Returned A Leader Chapter 16

His eyes were red, his voice dropping lower.

I looked at the tin without emotion.

“Stefan.”

“Do you remember what you said to me before the Tide Coast trip?”

He froze.

I told him clearly,

“You told me to be mature.”

“And later, I did exactly that.”

“I left your lives, an adult werewolf making her own choice.”

“And I gave up on every expectation I ever had of you.”

“What you’re saying now doesn’t sound like love to me.”

“A courting promise isn’t a rope you use to keep someone waiting. The moment you pushed me away, you lost the right to expect me to save that place for you.”

“What you’re saying now just makes me sick.”

The blood drained from Stefan’s face. He swayed.

The metal tin slipped from his hand and hit the floor with a sharp clatter.

His breathing turned rough, the urge to shift making his fingers tremble.

But he didn’t come near me.

We had never formed a mate bond.

His regret gave him no rights.

I didn’t look at any of them again. I turned and walked out of the hotel.

Outside, Lena was waiting in the car.
