Abandoned XXL Wife: My Second Husband Is A Tycoon Chapter 05

He looked me up and down.

Then he laughed. “I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.”

“After divorcing me, you’ve fallen this low? Selling clothes for pocket change?”

“Look at you. You used to walk around with your head held high. Where’d that go?”

My fingers stopped over the cash in my hand.

I stared at him.

When I married Daniel, the Kanes were just an ordinary working family.

He used my money to start his business.

Then he got lucky. The Kane family got richer.

And somehow, I became less and less useful in their eyes.

His mother complained that I didn’t make enough money.

Daniel complained that I didn’t know how to socialize with rich people. I couldn’t help his career.

So he ordered me to quit my job.

He cut me off from my friends. He took away my work.

Eventually, I was trapped at home doing nothing but cooking and cleaning.

Then he cheated.

At the divorce signing, he’d even laughed in my face.

“Go ask around.”

“Which successful man doesn’t have women on the side? Only a boring woman like you would take it seriously.”

His mother had been even worse.

She told everyone in the neighborhood how proud she was of her son.

“My boy’s successful. He can have as many women as he wants. And Sophie still has to come home and take care of him.”

When I insisted on getting divorced, everyone laughed at me.

Even my own family called me spoiled.

They told me I was stupid for giving up my life as a rich man’s wife.

They said they wanted nothing to do with me anymore.

Daniel had thrown a divorce agreement in front of me.

“Get out of my house. You’re taking nothing.”

“Not one cent.”

“I want to see how you’re going to survive without me.”

Now he stood in front of my little stall in an expensive suit, one arm around a heavily made-up influencer.

He looked down at me with a smug smile.

“You insisted on divorcing me.”

“I thought you’d found someone better. Turns out you’re doing this kind of work.”

He glanced at the shirts.

“Is that even enough to pay for your mother’s medicine?”

Charlie stopped smiling.

He looked at Daniel. Then he stepped in front of me.

His little fists clenched at his sides.

I quickly pulled him behind me.

I wasn’t going to let someone like Daniel poison Charlie’s eyes.

Daniel raised an eyebrow.

“Well, well, whose kid is this?”

His eyes moved between Charlie and me. Then his smile turned ugly.

“Don’t tell me you’re working as a nanny and selling clothes on the street too?”

His voice grew louder. People nearby started looking over.

“What a joke.” He laughed.

“If you’re that desperate, get on your knees and beg me to take you back.”

The influencer pressed herself against Daniel, her red lips curling into a smile.

“So this is the ex-wife you gave up?”

“The one who walked away from being a rich man’s wife just to get a divorce?”

She looked me up and down.

“Honestly, she’s nothing special. Why are you still hung up on her, Daniel?”

Daniel laughed.

“She used to be the prettiest girl in school. Half the guys wanted her.”

He looked me over again.

“But look at her now. Messy hair, no makeup. And that body? She’s completely let herself go. Just a bloated housewife.”

“Where’s the woman I married?”

Then Daniel looked at me with that same old smile.

“You were with me when I had nothing.”

“When we got married, I promised you would be my only wife.”

“When I asked for the divorce, I was only trying to knock some sense into you.”

“If you know you were wrong, just apologize to me and my family. I’ll still give you your place back.”

“The Kane family can still have you as its wife.”

I laughed.

Not because anything he said was funny.

I couldn’t believe I’d once loved this man.

“Daniel, I did nothing wrong.”

“And even if I had, I wouldn’t regret leaving you.”

“The night you threw me out, I didn’t have a dollar. It was pouring rain. I didn’t even have a place to sleep.”

“So I spent the night under the bridge, trying to stay out of the wind.”

“If I hadn’t happened to save Charlie, his family wouldn’t have taken me in.”

“I might have been swept away by the rising river.”

I looked straight at him.

“And even after all that, I still never regretted divorcing you.”

“Keep your precious position in the Kane family.”

“Give it to whoever you want.”

“I don’t want it.”

Daniel’s face darkened.

“I gave you a chance to come back, and you still won’t take it?”

“Then you’ll be selling clothes on the street for the rest of your life.”

“And taking care of someone else’s barstard!”

His voice rose.

“That’s all you’re good for.”

I looked at Daniel’s disgusting smile.

I was about to answer.

Then I heard footsteps behind me.

Slow.

Steady.

Heavy.

A hand wearing an expensive watch came to rest gently on Charlie’s shoulder.

“Mr. Kane.”

Ethan’s voice cut through the noise.

The entire street seemed to go quiet.

His hand stayed on Charlie’s shoulder. His eyes locked onto Daniel.

“You just called my son what?”
