After I Saved Him My CEO Said We Were Strangers Chapter 07

Chris had known Reed for twenty years and had rarely heard him string so many sentences together at once.

After a moment of silence, he asked, “Did you tell Blair any of that?”

Reed’s expression turned guarded. He looked away without answering.

Chris sighed.

“What’s the point of thinking it if you don’t say it? You have to tell her.”

“You liked her for years and refused to say a word. You waited until she was literally packing her bags for Chicago to go on dates before you panicked and made her stay. Then you hid the relationship. This time, I think you’ve finally—”

“Screwed it up.”

Reed kicked him lightly under the table.

“Shut up.”

He leaned back against the sofa, but the corner of his mouth lifted in a slow, infuriatingly confident smile.

“You have no idea how much she likes me.”

“Which one of your exes would throw herself under a falling steel beam for you?”

“You’re just jealous.”

With that, he stood up to leave.

Chris called after him, “It’s early. Stay for another drink.”

Reed paused to adjust his cufflinks, a smirk playing on his lips.

“No. I’ve got a flight in the morning.”

He slung his coat over his shoulder and headed for the door.

“It’s about time I went and soothed my future wife.”
