After Lefting Me On The Bridge He Lost His Mind Chapter 30
On the day the project officially launched, the general manager handed me a glass of champagne.
“This proves I chose the right person.”
Jenna laughed, clinking her glass against mine.
“Deputy Director Mavis, just so we’re clear—when you get promoted again, you’re buying me dinner.”
“I’ll buy it tonight,” I smiled.
Outside the window, Austin was bathed in sunshine.
There was still a faint, pale mark on the back of my hand from the burn.
If you didn’t look closely, you could barely see it.
I used to think scars were there to remind you of what you lost.
Now I know they’re just there to remind you of what you’ve survived.
After the celebration wound down, I received an anonymous email.
There was only one sentence.
[Today was supposed to be our wedding day.]
I glanced at the date.
It was the day Truett had once set for our wedding.
There was no apology, no request.
Just a photo of that old, cheap ring.
I deleted it without a second thought.
After I emptied the trash folder, the screen returned to the photo from our project launch party.
I was standing in the center, surrounded by the team that had pulled so many all-nighters with me.
This time, no one was hiding behind my success.Â
