Blood Phoenix :My Fiancé Sold Me To My Eighteen Mafia Fathers Chapter 06

The second the words left my mouth, all eighteen of my dads grinned. Slow. Ugly. Knowing.

The Moretti family has never been short on ways to make a person suffer.

“Bring her forward!”

Capo Ricci was drenched in sweat. He personally dragged Bianca out and forced her to her knees in front of me.

The same Bianca who, ten minutes ago, was waving a knife at my eye — was now a snotty, mascara-streaked mess on the floor. Like a drowned rat.

“Godfather! Godfather, I’m sorry! I swear to God, I didn’t know she was your daughter!”

Bianca slammed her forehead into the marble. Over and over. Loud, wet cracks.

“If I knew — Godfather, if I had any idea — I swear on my mother’s life I wouldn’t have touched a hair on her head! Please! Please, Godfather, I’m begging you, don’t kill me!”

Papa didn’t even give her a glance. He just looked at Capo Ricci. Cold. Dead cold.

“This is the daughter you raised.”

Ricci’s knees hit the floor so fast I heard the bones crack. He backhanded Bianca across the face — hard enough to send half her teeth skittering across the marble.

“Shut your mouth! You blind little bitch! You think you get to call the Don Godfather?!”

Ricci turned to me, face gone gray as ash.

“Principessa — I failed her. Do whatever you want with her. She’s yours.”

I walked over to Bianca. Slow. Taking my time.

Bent down. Picked up the switchblade off the floor.

The blade was still wet with my blood.

I flicked the flat side of the blade against her swollen cheek. Tap. Tap.

The cold metal made her whole body jerk.

Then a sharp, unmistakable smell hit the air.

She’d wet herself. Right there on the floor.

“You were saying something a minute ago. Something about cutting my eyes out? And carving the phoenix off my arm to feed to the dogs?”

I leaned in close. Set the tip of the blade against her eyelid. Whispered every word.

“Left one first? Or right?”

“P-Please — principessa — please, I’ll never — I’m sorry, I’m sorry —”

Bianca shook her head so hard snot flew off her face. Tears mixed with the blood.

I looked at her. And honestly? I got bored.

I flicked my wrist.

The blade skimmed her scalp. A ragged chunk of hair, roots and blood, came off in my hand.

Bianca let out a scream that didn’t even sound human. She thought her whole head was gone. Her eyes rolled back. She hit the floor cold.

I tossed the hair in Capo Ricci’s face.

“Keep your little bastard on a leash, Ricci. You’ve bled for the Moretti family for twenty years. That’s the only reason she’s still breathing.”

“Next time, I take her tongue.”

Ricci’s forehead was on the ground before I finished the sentence.

“Thank you, principessa. Thank you. Thank you —”

I turned. Looked at Chloe. Still pinned under Uncle Vito’s boot.

The second Chloe saw my eyes on her — she completely lost it. She crawled to me on all fours and threw her arms around my leg, clinging like a leech.

“Sera! Sera, honey, it’s me! It’s Chloe! You remember me, right? Remember when I got you that Prada bag for your birthday? Remember?!”

“This is all Julian! I swear to God, this was all Julian’s idea! He made me come! He drugged you, not me! I was crying the whole time — please, honey, please forgive me —!”

I looked down at her. Watched her flail.

Then I lifted my bloody stiletto and drove the heel straight down onto the back of her right hand. The one that ground itself into my shin an hour ago.

“AAAH!”

Chloe’s scream tore through the hall.

I leaned in. Pressed down harder. Listened to the bones grind.

“Your brother? Your brother drugged me, tied me up, and shipped me here to die — just to save your worthless ass.”

“And you’re gonna sell him out just to save your own skin?”

I turned to look at Julian. Pinned to the floor, half-conscious, eyes hollow. I gave him a soft little laugh.

“Julian. Look at her. This is the sister you sold your soul for.”

Julian’s eyes went dead. Something inside him just… turned off.

“Chloe, sweetheart. Aren’t you the one who loves hiding behind big brother? Loves letting him clean up all your little messes?”

I let up on her hand. Kicked the bloody switchblade across the floor to her. Slow. Almost gentle.

“Since your brother went to all the trouble of delivering you to me, tell me — how should I thank him?”

Chloe stared at the knife. Her whole body was shaking so hard her teeth chattered.

“W-what… what are you gonna do…”

“Your brother loves you so much, right? Always takes the hits for you. Always covers for you.”

I looked down at her.

“Today, you take one for him.”

“No! No no no —!”

Chloe scrambled backward on the floor.

Julian finally snapped out of it. He started screaming, straining against the two enforcers holding him down.

“Sera! Sera! You want someone, take me! Don’t touch her! Have you lost your mind?!”

“Lost my mind?”

I turned. My eyes cut into him.

“For three years, I cooked for you. Bled for you. Buried who I was for you. I took knife wounds for you.”

“And what did you do? You tied me up and delivered me to hell yourself.”

My foot came up. The switchblade flashed through the air in a clean arc.

The tip sliced through the tendon in Chloe’s right hand. Surgical.

Blood sprayed across the marble.

“MY HAND! MY HAND —!”

Chloe’s screams were pure animal. She rolled across the floor, thrashing, howling.

Julian’s eyes went red. He tried to lunge for her — got slammed back down by two of the enforcers. His face hit the marble. He didn’t stop screaming her name.

I watched him. Watched him break in real time.

There was nothing in me. Nothing at all.

“Take them down. Throw them in the cellars.”

“Nobody lets them die without my word.”
