Body Checked By My Straight Captain Chapter 02
Reality crashes down on me.
Connor is asleep. Guys react in their sleep. It doesn’t mean he wants me.
But my mind drags me back two weeks ago.
We’d just won at home. The locker room was loud, guys passing around beers. I’d refused mine.
Of course, Jace had taunted me. “Still too good to drink with us, Prince?”
“I said no.”
He caught the back of my neck and tipped the bottle against my mouth. Beer flooded my throat.
Panic hit so fast I barely felt the hard glass rim split my lip.
Then Jace was ripped away. Connor had him by the jersey, shoving himself between us.
“He said no.”
The room went dead quiet. Later, Connor found me alone, pressing gauze to my lip.
“Let me see.”
“I’m fine.”
“Blaine.”
I hated how fast I listened.
He motioned for me to sit on the bathroom counter. He stepped between my knees and tilted my chin upwards. His thumb brushed over the cut on my lower lip.
My tongue caught the pad of it by accident. We both froze.
Connor’s eyes dropped to my mouth. His thumb stayed there.
I wondered what it would feel like if Connor put something other than his thumb there.
Heat shot through me. His thumb pressed deeper against my lip.
Then he jerked away.
“Why don’t you drink?”
“I just don’t.”
Connor studied me.
“Okay.”
Maybe that was when he became dangerous to me.
I spent that night wondering what would’ve happened if neither of us pulled away.
The bus slams into a pothole, jolting me from the memory.
I fly sideways and land in Connor’s lap.
His arms lock around my waist, but he doesn’t open his eyes.
Instead, he pulls me tighter against his chest. Nervously, I look around. Nobody is looking, but I still need to move.
Connor’s breath burns against my ear, his lips almost touching me.
“Blaine…”
Oh my god, Connor just said my name in his sleep.
