Her wolf had always been weak, and she’d never cared for crowded gatherings.
But that night, she did something unheard of. She picked up a fencing épée from a display case and executed a flawless routine in the center of the ballroom.

My sister, her eyes rimmed with red, shook her head.

I didn’t fight.

A collective sigh of relief went through the room.

For the first time, my sister’s face went pale before mine did.
