On my eighteenth birthday, my sister wore my red dress.
Her wolf had always been weak, and she’d never cared for crowded gatherings.
But that night, she did something unheard of. She picked up a fencing épée from a display case and executed a flawless routine in the center of the ballroom.
Sebastian Black—my childhood friend, my fiancé of seven years—watched her, utterly transfixed.

My sister, her eyes rimmed with red, shook her head.

I didn’t fight.
