From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 30

“Okay.”

She answered so quickly, it was as if she were afraid I would change my mind.

I took her to a restaurant nearby.

In the past, when ordering, I would consider Grant’s preferences first, then whether Lily could eat it, and only last what I wanted.

This time, I handed her the menu.

“You pick yours. I’ll pick mine.”

She froze for a second, then slowly smiled.

Halfway through the meal, Grant called her phone.

The screen lit up for a long time.

Lily didn’t answer.

She only sent one message back.

[I already saw Mara.]

Grant replied almost instantly.

[Is she okay?]

[Did she mention me?]

Lily looked at me.

I lowered my head and cut into the food on my plate. I didn’t ask, and I didn’t wait.

She turned her phone facedown on the table.

“I won’t tell him.”

That night, Grant waited in his Boston house until dawn.

He opened his chat with Lily over and over again.

But not one more word about me ever came.

Before, he had used his daughter to keep me.

Now, Lily had shut that door with her own hands.

A month after Sloane’s correction statement had remained pinned in place, my lawyer informed me that every agreed-upon term had been fulfilled.
