He Accused Me Of Stealing But I Heard The Truth Chapter 32
My lawyer said I didn’t have to attend the asset-freeze hearing.
“This is only a pretrial proceeding. Rachel is trying to shift blame to Derek. It won’t directly affect the recovery of your funds.”
I fastened the little fox ears on Maisie’s coat.
“She used my name, she forged my signature, and she almost got my child killed in that clinic. As long as any court is still discussing whether I went there willingly, I’m going.”
The hospital social worker accompanied Maisie to school that day.
When I entered the courtroom, Rachel was already seated at the defense table. She wore a severe dark gray suit and no makeup, looking gaunt and fragile.
When she saw me, her eyes filled with tears.
Just like every time she had cried in front of Derek six years ago.
After the judge entered, her lawyer presented the original relocation-fund authorization signed by Derek and his office authority records.
“Mr. Weston explicitly instructed my client to handle Ms. Collins’s departure. He delegated the account setup, escrow of funds, and all administrative authorization to her. Now that the company’s reputation has been damaged, Mr. Weston is attempting to portray the normal execution of his instructions as a personal crime.”
“As for the clinic, he wanted the matter resolved quickly and discreetly. My client, Ms. Lane, has no reason to bear these consequences alone.”
